This type of coating is used in hygroscopic products. Application is only one to one and half percent of tablet weight which can be film coated or sugar coated later.
Its also used in products where the core of the product is very very dark and reflects even after film coating is done. So to avoid that dark core appearance of product these type of coating is used.
